Functional Leadership Strategy
The mission of the Management Systems Division is to foster a climate of management excellence and integrity through the comprehensive implementation of NASA’s internal control program.
The Management Systems Division facilitates the overall coordination, implementation, and integration of NASA’s internal control program including implementation of management’s responsibility for internal control as delineated in OMB Circular A-123 (as amended), and reporting activities as delineated in the Federal Manager’s Financial Integrity Act (FMFIA) of 1982.
The Management Systems Division ensures that NASA’s systems of internal control are in place, and that key controls are documented, assessed and reported on in conformity with federal and agency requirements. Additionally, the Management Systems Division is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and integrating management activities through the implementation of NASA’s internal control program including:
- External audit liaison, resolution, and follow-up in accordance with OMB Circular A-50;
- NASA directives management program;
- NASA’s quality management system consistent with NASA ISO 9001 certification activities; and
- The design and conduct of internal control reviews, evaluations, and assessments in support of FMFIA reporting requirements; ISO 9001 certification; policy and procedural requirements implementation; and NASA’s system of audit follow-up
