Mental Health Awareness
Mental Health Month is observed in May, and this year's theme is MIND your Health. The week of May 6-12 has been designated as National Anxiety and Depression Awareness Week. Each year millions of Americans suffer from anxiety disorders or depressive illness. Anxiety and depression can happen to anyone at anytime. The symptoms are not only emotional but can be physical as well. The majority of research has shown that anxiety and depression are biochemical and/or genetic illnesses. They are very treatable. And with the appropriate intervention, individuals are able to return to their normal levels of function. The Headquarters Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will be sponsoring the following two events to help employees learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression. All employees are invited to participate.
